"Welcome to MyGardenSpot. We stand at the intersection of traditional agricultural wisdom and modern digital innovation."

Driven by the belief that everyone deserves access to healthy, natural food and the knowledge required to grow it. Our mission is multifaceted and deeply rooted in a commitment to self-sustainability. We strive to foster a thriving, interconnected ecosystem that empowers individuals to reclaim their food independence, supports local and small-scale commerce, and champions sustainable living practices across the globe.

Whether you are planting your very first seed in a backyard raised bed or managing a large-scale agricultural network, MyGardenSpot is dedicated to providing the tools, resources, and community necessary to help your endeavors flourish. We believe that by returning to the earth and working in harmony with nature, we can build a healthier, more resilient, and sustainable future for all.

Gardening is a continuous journey, and we recognize that every seasoned expert was once a beginner. We are deeply committed to providing an accessible, welcoming environment that promotes the rewarding hobby of vegetable gardening for novices. Through comprehensive guides, step-by-step how-tos, and rich reference materials, we demystify the process of starting and maintaining a garden.

From mastering the fundamentals of soil health and composting to exploring effective companion planting techniques that naturally deter pests, our educational resources are designed to guarantee a successful and abundant harvest for those just starting out.

Simultaneously, we foster a robust, dynamic community for advanced gardeners who are seeking to monetize their activities. For those transitioning their passion into a profession, MyGardenSpot serves as a launchpad. We provide strategic insights into market gardening, empowering growers to scale their operations, navigate local farmer’s markets, and turn their sustainable practices into profitable, community-enriching businesses.

Innovating Agriculture: Digital Applications and SaaS Solutions

To truly advance the modern market gardening landscape, enthusiasm must be paired with efficiency. We are actively developing cutting-edge digital applications designed to promote, streamline, and organize your agricultural activities. MyGardenSpot is committed to creating affordable, powerful, and highly practical Software as a Service (SaaS) tailored specifically for the administration of Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) organizations.

Scalable Solutions

Whether managing a small neighborhood CSA or a large subscription-based organization serving thousands, our tools scale with your needs.

Meticulous Tracking

Track crop rotations, research real-time market pricing, and manage subscriber communications and billing with ease.

A core pillar of our philosophy is the aggressive promotion of a return to natural, healthy food sources and the fostering of acute awareness regarding the long-term dangers of bioengineering and hyper-processed agriculture. We believe that food should be grown as nature intended—free from synthetic modifications and harmful chemical reliance.

To support this return to natural health, we are creating dedicated systems to advance the affordability and accessibility of fresh fruits and vegetables for everyone. Central to this initiative is our robust Heirloom Seed Marketplace. We are building a dedicated platform to assist community members in finding a reliable space where the sale and trade of heirloom seeds can be facilitated safely and easily.

Johnnie McCormick

Lifelong Gardening & Horticulture Specialist | Founder

Johnnie McCormick is the driving force behind My Garden Spot. His love for horticulture began in middle school, working alongside his grandfather in their family garden. He later refined his skills over three seasons operating his high school's greenhouse. Inspired by Liberty Hyde Bailey and the 1935 farming classic, Five Acres and Independence, Johnnie began exploring market gardening in 2008. Starting with a self-built scrap-lumber greenhouse and plastic sheeting in north-central Alabama, he started several hundred vegetable crops, dedicating himself to mastering intensive planting and high-yield organic practices.

Today, Johnnie operates his test garden in the hills between Birmingham and Jasper, Alabama (Zone 7b/8a). He is passionate about helping families bypass rising grocery costs by sharing practical, community-supported agriculture and market gardening guidelines that foster local cooperation and food security.

Academic & Extension Standards

To ensure our resources provide the highest quality and safety benchmarks, all our calculators, crop scheduling advice, and organic guides are cross-referenced with peer-reviewed data from land-grant university extensions. We frequently cite guidelines from the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, the Alabama Cooperative Extension System, Cornell Cooperative Extension, and Penn State Extension.

Grassroots Advocacy: Defending Food Freedom

MyGardenSpot is more than a digital platform; it is a movement. We actively champion grassroots efforts to combat any legislative attempts that threaten or restrict the ability of the average citizen to engage in sustainable lifestyles. We stand firmly against the over-regulation of citizens seeking to grow, procure, or be afforded easy access to organic, natural fruit and vegetable sources.

Through our integrated digital forums, we provide a vital space for the advancement of information sharing, networking, and the promotion of gardening activities of all types. This forum serves as a rallying point for our community to organize, educate, and push back against restrictive zoning laws and policies that hinder local food independence.
